Caravan Maintenance: Your Essential Checklist Before Hitting the Road

As the weather starts to warm up, many caravan owners begin planning their next adventure. Before you pack the fridge and hitch up the van, it's worth spending a little time making sure your caravan is clean, safe and road-ready.Regular maintenance doesn't just keep your caravan looking its best - it helps prevent expensive repairs, improves safety, and gives you confidence every time you head away.

At Bold Trailer And Caravan Repair Centre, we've put together our top spring maintenance checklist to help you get your caravan in peak condition.

1. Give Your Caravan a Thorough Exterior Clean
Winter weather can leave behind dirt, mould and moisture that may hide damage.Start by:Washing the exterior with a caravan-safe cleaner.Cleaning the roof and checking for debris around vents.Inspecting windows, doors and hatches for cracked or deteriorating seals.Looking for any signs of water ingress or damaged sealant.Catching small issues early can prevent costly water damage later.

A fresh interior makes every trip more enjoyable.Take the time to:Vacuum carpets, cupboards and storage compartments.Wipe down benches, cupboards and appliances.Clean windows, curtains, upholstery and mattresses.Sanitise the bathroom, shower and toilet.Open windows and roof hatches to improve ventilation and remove stale air. This is also the perfect opportunity to check for mould, mildew or unwanted pests that may have appeared during storage.
