ESC allows the caravan to stabilize itself if you are caught in a wind tunnel. A wind tunnel can be created when trucks drive past you at a fast pace. You might have witnessed this before, when the caravan starts to sway side to side. The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) automatically applies the brakes on each side of the caravan depending on how much swing/sway there is and it brings the caravan back into alignment. This helps avoid the caravan tipping or rolling over from uncontrollable sway.
